Barrister of the Year 2020

Completely out of the blue, and a very pleasant surprise for the end of the year, I found that I had been nominated for, and won, the award of Barrister of the Year 2020, presented by the Nottinghamshire Law Society last night.

I am grateful to my former chambers, my former heads of chambers and my clerks Alan and Tony for their support, over so many years, which made this achievement possible.

As the ceremony took place by Zoom, this year it was a restrained affair and I hope that next year’s dinner will take place in more normal circumstances.

I managed to resist the urge to give an acceptance speech, unlike Father Ted with his receipt of the Golden Cleric Award in 1995.

A merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

God bless Tiny Tim, and us all.
